This Week's Fishing Tip
Spring time crappies can be easy to catch--just as my friends
from the Island of Trinidad found out on 5-4-07. When the water
surface temps reach the lower to mid 50's check out the shallows
just outside the old bull rush beds. Many times these old weeds
beds are located next to old cattail beds like in the background
of this picture. Simply flip light small bobbers and small #8
hooks tipped with a lively crappie minnow (1-2" long) or a wax
worm set about 1.5' below the surface in 2-4 ft of water.
Remember, do not keep the female fish. Try to keep the dark
colored crappies like in this picture--they are usually the
males. The future is up to you!!
